Transparent procedures from start to finish

Your ATF Gaia project manager supplies you with regular, detailed reports on the progress of the recovery or recycling procedures undergone by your electronic and IT equipment at the end of its life.

Extented traceability allows the equipment to be monitored at all stages of
processing up until resale or the issuing of a Certificate of Destruction by our approved recycling partner. Extended traceability is applied, whatever the treatment process:

  • Resale as a unit: the resold equipment serial number is linked to the purchasing customer.
  • Resale as spare parts: each part (mother board, memory, LCD display) is allocated an individual serial number.
  • Destruction: the equipment or part concerned is the subject of a Waste Monitoring Slip (BSB) and a Certificate of Destruction.

The cleaning of data and equipment is done upon arrival at the sorting centre. Any identification is removed. Within ten days, all data is destroyed using a method approved by the Ministry of Defence. This procedure wipes each character in a file up to three times and is proof against advanced data restoration methods.

Sorting and storage centres are secure to prevent any attempt at theft and its consequences (non-compliant storage or fly-tipping). Equipment containing components hazardous to public health or the environment are placed in enclosed containers.  ATF Gaia sites and ICPE sorting centres are also kept under 24-hour surveillance.

Ce que dit la loi

The order of 23 November 2005 relating to the treatment methods for DEEE covered by article 21 of the decree states that certain equipment must be “collected selectively”. The company and its recycling supplier must be able to prove at any moment that dangerous substances were recovered before the burial or incineration of the remaining products
